It is still in use, for bicycling, inlines etc. It is possible to go by bicycle from Karlstad all the way up to Uddeholm: http://www.klaralvsbanan.se

The former yard at Karlstad Östra is mostly covered by road nowadays, but the split can be seen under a bridge in the far eastern end. This is close to where the bicycle lane starts.
